Custombilt History
Our beginnings · Our business today
Our History
Custombilt’s origins date to the 1970s, with an early focus on metalwork for the lift industry. That experience remains an important part of our business, including work on lift interiors, entrance architraves and associated metal components.
Graham and Sue Kemp purchased the business in 2005. Since then, Custombilt has expanded into architectural metalwork and shopfitting for commercial buildings, hotels, retail developments and other construction projects.
Graham retired in 2017. Their son Tony has taken over Graham’s role in the business and now works alongside Sue as a director, continuing the family’s leadership of Custombilt.
Custombilt Projects remains a locally owned family business based in West Auckland. Our team brings together design, fabrication and site installation experience, working alongside construction companies, builders, architects and lift companies to deliver carefully finished metalwork.
We consistently achieve SiteWise Gold, reflecting our commitment to health and safety.
